In a bid to bring Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) under control, the government of France has taken a striking decision and here’s a brief report on the same.
The French government has decided to provide free condoms to individuals aged 18-26 at all pharmacies across France from January 2023.
The president of France, Emmanuel Macron announced that the free condoms initiative will come to effect in January and individuals can collect the same at pharmacies across the country.
This comes after France saw a 30% spike in STIs in 2020 and 2021. The government hopes that the free supply of condoms can help control the spread of STIs in the general population.
Back in 2018, the French government used to return the condom costs to the buyers if they bought them at a pharmacy with a prescription from a doctor. Now, they’ve announced free disbursement of condoms to the younger generation.
