It is more or less clear that Yarlagadda Venkatrao will be the TDP candidate on Vallabhaneni Vamsi in Gannavaram in the coming election. Gannavaram is a stronghold of TDP ever since its inception.
The party has only lost twice in the nine elections that happened since 1983. Vallabhaneni Vamsi is the second-time MLA who won on a TDP ticket and shifted to YSR Congress after the 2019 elections.
Yarlagadda Venkatrao lost to Vamsi on the YSRCP ticket with less than a 1,000 votes margin.
Now, they are going to lock horns once again but from different parties.
The question is if Yarlagadda can defeat Vamsi.
Gannavaram is a Kamma bastion. That factor will be nullified because both of them are Kammas. At the same time, Kammas are upset with Vamsi for ditching TDP and siding with Reddys in difficult times.
As far as money is concerned, Yarlagadda is an NRI and is also a money bag. So, he can easily match the money power of Vamsi. The only problem is availability locally.
There is a talk in the constituency Yarlagadda is mostly in the US and is not available locally. In complete contrast, availability is a huge asset for Vamsi all his political career. He has established good connections in the constituency as a result. Yarlagadda should improve on this front with elections fast approaching.
Surveys conducted by TDP say Yarlagadda is comfortably placed in Gannavaram.
