It has been more than 58 hours since the Vishakapatnam Gas Leakage tragedy has happened but there is no single arrest so far. The State Government is accused of registering cases with simple sections. Moreover, the Government had released compensation from its own coffers while not pressurizing the company.
Vexed with the Government’s behavior, the victims have staged a protest before the LG Chem Factory. They even brought the dead bodies of three of their dear ones who lost their lives. They demanded that the factor should be shut down permanently.
“Our fight is not for compensation. Money can not buy us. We will ensure that the plant is shut down. We are demanding a permanent solution for this issue,” the victims say. YSR Congress Government which has planned to silence the issue with hefty compensation was taken back with this backlash.
“They were provoked by some people. We request them not to get provoked. Lives of people in five villages important for us,” Minister Avanthi Srinivas told the media. The insensitive comments of the Minister are also being criticized. The Gas Leakage has claimed Eleven Lives in Total. Experts say that it is likely to have an environmental impact at least for a decade.
