It is official that the BJP will be a part of the TDP and Janasena alliance. It is also confirmed that the BJP will contest from six assembly seats and six Parliament seats in Andhra Pradesh.
Deliberations are still going on about the seats but there are rumors about the seats already.
Going by the rumors, the BJP is asking for two seats.
Media Reports are suggesting that the BJP is keen on having GVL Narasimha Rao for Vishakapatnam Parliament and Somu Veerraju for Rajahmundry Urban.
Balakrishna’s BIL Sri Bharat is the frontrunner for the Vizag Parliament seat while TDP already announced Rajahmundry Urban Seat for Adireddy Vasu, the SIL of Late Yerrannaidu.
Both are capable candidates and the two seats are easily winnable.
Meanwhile, GVL and Somu are hated by the TDP cadre and voters. They are often seen as YSR Congress Agents in the BJP. They played an active part in foiling the TDP and BJP alliance between 2014 and 2019.
If they are given tickets, the vote transfer is unlikely and easy seats will be lost.
It is interesting to note that both GVL and Somu never won a direct election. In fact, GVL never contested one.
In the early days of his career, Somu Veerraju lost even in the local elections.
In the 2004 elections, he contested for the Kadiyam Assembly in alliance with BJP and TDP and lost by a margin of 40,000 votes.
In the 2009 elections, Somu contested as BJP candidate for Rajahmundry Parliament. He got only 1,643 votes out of the total 1,017,820 votes polled.
We will have to see how it pans out this time!
