It is rare for politicians, especially in the current generation, to go beyond routine duties to help people in need. However, one such incident involving BRS leader Harish Rao took place on Friday.
Harish Rao was approached by Ramachandra, the father of Mamata. Mamata had secured a medical seat in Ophthalmology at a college in Mahbubnagar.
The annual fee for the course was Rs 7.5 lakh. Mamata’s family approached a local bank for an education loan but faced a major hurdle.
The bank demanded property for mortgage. Since the family’s house was already mortgaged, the loan could not be sanctioned.
Ramachandra then met Siddipet MLA Harish Rao and explained the family’s financial situation. What followed surprised many.
Harish Rao personally contacted the bank and ensured a loan of Rs 20 lakh was sanctioned. He mortgaged his own house in Siddipet to support Mamata’s education.
In addition to the loan, Harish Rao also provided financial assistance to cover Mamata’s hostel expenses. His gesture ensured her education would not be disrupted.
The act has drawn widespread appreciation from various quarters. The story has gone viral across Telangana, earning Harish Rao praise for his compassionate gesture.
