The Telangana High Court has cleared all obstacles to the state government’s Musi Rejuvenation Project. In today’s hearing, the court upheld the Mission Musi project and ordered strict action against illegal encroachments and occupants along the Musi Riverbed.
The court also approved the establishment of the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRAA) and gave it authority to protect lakes and water bodies.

It directed immediate action to remove illegal and unauthorized structures in the FTL, Riverbed Zone, and Buffer Zone of the Musi River.
The High Court instructed the state government to conduct a detailed socio-economic survey of people whose houses/properties will be affected by the project and to relocate them to appropriate places as per government policies.

Petitioners opposing HYDRAA and the Musi River Rejuvenation Board were ordered not to interfere with surveys conducted by the state or its officials. The court also asked the police department to provide adequate security for officials carrying out these directives.
For the last two months, HYDRAA and the Musi Rejuvenation Board have faced public anger for demolishing illegal structures along the Musi Riverbed and in the FTL and buffer zones of various lakes.

Now, with the High Court giving the green signal to the Mission Musi project, we can expect the work to happen at a faster pace.
