Before the Andhra Pradesh Assembly Elections, the TDP delivered an unexpected blow to the ruling YSR Congress Party by securing victories in many panchayat elections across the state. The TDP candidates emerged victorious in areas where YCP candidates faced defeat, despite the various schemes and efforts orchestrated by the YCP.
In a significant result, the TDP won the native village of Super Star Krishna, Burripaalem, with a significant margin of 1526 votes. Vallabhaneni Vamsi, who was initially elected on a TDP ticket in the 2019 elections but later joined the YCP, had been supportive of the YCP’s efforts. However, the recent panchayat elections revealed that his cadre’s allegiance was not as strong as anticipated.
In the major panchayat of ‘Nunna’ within the Gannavaram constituency, Vallabhaneni Vamsi faced a setback. In the by-election of the 9th ward, Vallur Venkatasiva, supported by the TDP, won by 25 votes against former MPTC Bommina Srinivasa Rao, backed by the YCP. The victory in the Nunna area, a stronghold for the YCP, has brought celebration within the TDP ranks, and Yarlagadda Venkatarao is also reveling in the TDP’s success in this region.
Yarlagadda, who had been dissatisfied since Vamsi’s move to the YCP, eventually resigned from the party. The timing of the panchayat elections played a crucial role, with both Yarlagadda and Vamsi competing ambitiously.
Yarlagadda strategically devised a plan to outperform Vamsi in this election, particularly in the Nunna region, and it appears that this plan was effectively executed and yielded positive results according to Yarlagadda’s relatives. Victory in NUNNA gives boost-up to Yarlagadda Venkatrao cadre before he joins in TDP.
