During the election campaign, YSRCP leaders criticized TDP for its alliance with BJP, raising concerns about the security of Muslim and minority populations in the state. MIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi also voiced criticism of TDP’s alliance with BJP while promoting Jagan Mohan Reddy as a fighter against BJP.
Now, despite these past criticisms, YSRCP is ready to extend its support for the Speaker post election in the Lok Sabha, which aligns with the NDA. This support is not entirely surprising given YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s complex political situation.
He has been supporting the NDA government for the past decade, and reliable sources indicate that he recently sent written information to the Center declaring his government’s unconditional support from outside. Jagan’s ongoing legal troubles, particularly related to the illegal assets case and other allegations of scams during his regime, seem to be a significant factor in his decision.
The new government in Andhra Pradesh is investigating these allegations, which could potentially lead to his arrest. By aligning with the NDA, Jagan appears to be seeking protection and relief from these legal challenges, leveraging his four MPs’ support to gain favor with the central government.
The political landscape has shifted, with the TDP-Janasena-BJP alliance achieving significant victories in the state, making the support of TDP MPs crucial for the central government. Jagan’s strategic move to support the NDA seems driven by a need to safeguard his political and personal interests amidst these pressures.
