Hyderabad Shamshabad Airport is facing high congestion as many students travel abroad for studies, leading the police to limit accompanying persons.
In the past ten days, around 5,000 to 6,000 individuals leave daily through Shamshabad Airport for overseas education. The airport also witnesses about 70,000 cars moving in and out each day. On average, Rajiv Gandhi International Airport sees 50,000 domestic and 10,000 international passengers daily.
Despite an advisory, the situation remains unchanged. Only three people are allowed to accompany a student due to a high-security alert for Independence Day.
Due to rapid growth and congestion, the Telangana government proposed a second airport at Hakimpet for Hyderabad. This would address the airport’s current challenges.
