Yet another suspected honour killing has been reported in Hyderabad, with a young man losing his life in Sangareddy district. The incident unfolded after the girl’s parents learned about their daughter’s relationship and called the boy home under the pretext of discussing marriage.
The incident took place in Beeramguda Srujana Lakshmi Nagar. The victim, Jyoti Sravan Sai known as Siva, was 20 years old and studying B Tech second year. He was from Penuganchiprolu in NTR district and had been staying in a room in Qutbullapur.
Siva was pursuing computer science at Saint Peter Engineering College in Maisammaguda. He had been in a relationship with a 19 year old girl from Srujana Lakshmi Nagar for a few years. The two studied together until 10th class before continuing their education in different places.
After discovering the relationship, the girl’s parents repeatedly warned the couple to break up. However, the young pair decided to marry despite the opposition. The parents then called Siva home to discuss marriage, invited him inside and allegedly attacked him mercilessly, leading to his death.
Ameenpur police reached the location and registered a case. Siva’s body was sent to Patancheru Government Hospital for postmortem. Police are now searching for the girl’s parents and other family members involved in the murder.
