Hyderabad and Vijayawada fastest growing cities

Oxford Economics has released its report on the world’s fastest-growing cities for 2019–2035, and India dominates the list. All top ten cities are from India, most of them Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities showing exceptional economic momentum.

Surat in Gujarat tops the list, with its GDP expected to hit $126.8 billion by 2035. Agra ranks second, followed by Bengaluru with a strong 8.5% growth rate, making it one of India’s most dynamic urban economies.

Hyderabad secures the fourth spot with an estimated growth rate of 8.2% and a projected GDP of $201.4 billion by 2035. The report suggests that Hyderabad is on track to emerge as a key global business player. Nagpur, Tiruppur, and Rajkot follow in fifth, sixth, and seventh places.

Tamil Nadu’s Tiruchirapalli ranks eighth with a growth rate of 8.3%, just ahead of Chennai at ninth, with 8.2%. Interestingly, Chennai trails its state peers Tiruppur and Tiruchirapalli, highlighting the rapid rise of smaller Tamil Nadu cities.

Vijayawada rounds off the top ten with a growth rate of 8.2% and a projected GDP of $21.3 billion by 2035. From $5.6 billion in 2018, the city of Kanaka Durga is set to become a major commercial hub, reflecting Andhra Pradesh’s expanding infrastructure and strong investment growth.

This ranking brings a sense of pride to Telugus everywhere, showcasing how both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana continue to shape India’s economic future.
