After 5 Bail Rejections, Will iBomma Ravi Get HC Relief?

iBomma Ravi piracy case bail hearing

In the ongoing movie piracy case, iBomma Ravi has now approached the High Court seeking bail. Earlier, he had filed multiple bail petitions in the Nampally Court, but all of them were rejected. After these repeated setbacks, he moved the High Court for relief.

The High Court has taken up his bail petition and directed the Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police to file a counter affidavit. The police are expected to submit their response on Tuesday, February 3. At present, four piracy related cases have been registered against Ravi, and he continues to remain in judicial custody at Chanchalguda Jail.

Ravi suffered a major blow on January 9, when the Nampally Court dismissed five bail petitions linked to cases registered by the Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police. During the hearing, the police strongly opposed bail, stating that the investigation was still ongoing. They also told the court that Ravi holds foreign citizenship, raising the risk that he could leave the country if released. The court agreed with the police and rejected all bail pleas, sending a strong message against digital piracy.

After Ravi’s arrest, many believed that piracy would reduce significantly. However, that has not happened. Even after he was taken into custody, several newly released films, including Raja Saab, Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, and Border 2, were leaked online through torrent sites and Telegram channels.

This clearly shows that movie piracy remains a serious problem for the Indian film industry. Arrests alone have not been enough, and the fight against piracy continues despite legal action against key individuals like iBomma Ravi.
