Ignorant Jagan Becomes ‘Troll-Stuff’

“Ignorance is bliss,” but not always—especially not for political leaders. For them, ignorance can come across as arrogance. Former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has often been the subject of social media trolling whenever he speaks to the media.

Yesterday, during his visit to the flood-affected areas of the city, accompanied by other leaders, he made two statements about the Budameru canal that provided ample material for TDP supporters on social media to troll him.

His statements were so surprising that people had to double-check their validity. YS Jagan claimed that these floods were “man-made,” and accused CBN of intentionally diverting Budameru Canal water by lifting the gates to flood Vijayawada city in order to protect his house in Vundavalli from flooding.

People were shocked by Jagan’s statements. Where is Budameru? Where is CBN’s house? Does Budameru even have gates? These questions immediately came to everyone’s mind. Budameru Canal flows through Krishna district and Vijayawada city, while CBN’s house is in Vundavalli village, across the Krishna River in Guntur district. Jagan’s baseless allegations left many baffled, as they revealed his lack of basic knowledge about Budameru.

Projects may have gates, but canals generally do not. Engineers install gates to control water flow and prevent waste, but Budameru Canal flows from the hills into Vijayawada city and does not have gates that can be lifted or closed at will. This is yet another example of Jagan speaking without understanding the details about Budameru.
