The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Amaravati, has issued a heavy rainfall warning for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, effective through June 26.
The upcoming spell of wet weather is driven by an active upper-air cyclonic circulation over Rayalaseema and adjoining regions, alongside a trailing weather trough extending from northern Chhattisgarh down to Telangana.
These interacting weather systems are set to trigger a fresh surge in monsoon activity across both Telugu states.
Under the influence of these atmospheric conditions, local administrations have been put on alert for isolated heavy downpours, frequent lightning strikes, and sudden gusty winds that could reach speeds of up to 60 kmph.
The weather system is expected to heavily impact the coastal districts, Yanam, and the Rayalaseema region.
While the incoming rains are anticipated to bring much-needed relief to the agricultural sector by easing seasonal cultivation setups, municipal authorities are keeping a close watch on urban drainage systems to manage potential waterlogging and localized flooding during intense showers.
