Central Govt Decides To Carry Out Census 2027. MoS Nityanand Rai informed Lok Sabha that the government plans to conduct Census 2027 in a digital manner. The data will be collected using mobile apps, and people can also self enrol through a web portal linked to a dedicated system.

The Census will record details of every person at the place where they are present during enumeration. Migration data will be taken based on place of birth and last residence. It will also cover the duration of stay at the current location and the main reason for migration.

The central government notifies the questionnaire through the official gazette before any field work. India last conducted the national Census in 2011 and released the results in 2013. The next Census scheduled for 2021 was postponed due to the Covid pandemic.
