The elections which decide the fate of 120 Crore Indians began today. The elections will take place in 9 phases and today in the first phase,6 constituencies will cast their vote. Five of them are in Assam and one in Tripura. Elaborate polling arrangements are made for the successful and fair elections. These six constituencies have the history of poll-violence in the past. 77 Lakh votes will be exercising their constitutional right to decide the fate of 67 candidates in the first phase.
Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh elections will also take place along with this General election in different phases. Naxal infiltrated areas will finish up the polling in the first three phases amid huge security arrangements. The last phase of elections will take place on May 12. The counting will take place on May 16th and the results will be announced on the same day.
