The government of India had increased its efforts to combat Coronavirus Pandemic. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has increased the testing in the country. There is a sudden spike of testing cases from Sunday (April 5th). Till 9 PM IST on Sunday, 9369 samples were reported.
That means the country has increased its testing capacity to around 10,000 which is a significant number. Interestingly, only a total of 89,534 samples have been tested till 9 PM IST and if we deduct Sunday’s number, India’s testing average is very low.
The country had also started random testing on hotspot areas to find any chances of community spread. More than 250 districts across the country were identified as potential hotspots. India is looking to deploy serological antibody blood test, which delivers results in 15 minutes, to speed up COVID-19 screening, amid a spike in cases and growing coronavirus hotspots in the country.
At the time of writing this article, as per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of cases in India stands at 4,067.
