A recent study conducted by Internet calling app, Nanu revealed that Smartphone users of the country have noticed a spike of up to 50 per cent in their mobile internet data bills but are clueless about what is draining their data. 64% of the respondents in the survey have informed about noticing an increase of more than 10 per cent in their data charges.

21% noticed an unbelievable surge of more than 50 per cent in their data cost. Nanu had conducted this survey between in June 3-6 across 23 states covering 14,154 respondents. Those participated in the survey felt video advertisements on various websites may be the reason for this spike.
42% of the respondents do not even know that their data is extensively consumed by “video adverts even if they are not clicking on it”. 25% some what know about that and are upset with the brands promoting such ads. Only 17% are fully aware of that. More than 45 per cent of Indians, to be more precise those from Gujarat, West Bengal , Andhra Pradesh , Tamil Nadu , Telangana, Kerala are ignorat on video adverts consuming data,
