IT Buildings Ready for TCS in Vizag

The roadmap for TCS (Tata Consultancy Services) to start its operations in Vizag has been eased. Delhi’s Board of Approval has agreed to denotify Millennial Towers in Rushikonda SEZ. Due to this the company can provide services within the country.

It is known that AP CM Chandrababu held regular meetings with Tata Sons chairman Chandrasekharan and consistent efforts by IT Minister Lokesh, convinced the company to look at Vizag as its base.

The AP government has already given 21.6 acres in Rushikonda IT Park on Hill 3 for the company to build its own campus. Before building its campus, 2.08 lakh sq feet has been allocated in Millennium Towers on the same hill to the company, to start its operations.

There are 8 floors in Tower A. The first four floors are occupied by Conduent company. TCS has been given upper four floors. In Tower B, there are eight floors including the ground floor. Barring the second floor, all floors have been allocated to TCS.

Both of them put together are in 2.08 lakh sq feet. All of it lies in SEZ (Special Economic Zone). As per rules, the companies here must produce products to export abroad. They cannot provide services locally.

But TCS wanted to provide services locally and asked the state government to take the necessary steps. For this, Millennium Towers must be denotified from SEZ. This decision has to come from the Center.

Chandrababu and Lokesh explained that TCS was vital for Vizag’s growth as an IT hub. A request was sent through APIIC to the Center. In a recent meeting in Delhi of Board of Approvals, the decision to denotify Millennium Towers was taken.




The same was communicated to TCS. They will now take up interior works, look for a good day and start operations.
