For years, Jagan Mohan Reddy tried to undermine Pawan Kalyan politically by calling him Chandrababu Naidu’s Dattaputhrudu. The intention was to show that Pawan Kalyan and Chandrababu were secretly aligned, weakening the opposition’s credibility.
Ironically, Jagan’s constant attacks seem to have brought them closer. Today, Jana Sena and TDP are officially political allies, a reality that Jagan may not have anticipated.
During his tenure, Jagan never addressed Pawan Kalyan by his name. Instead, he repeatedly used terms like Dattaputhrudu, Package Star and Cinema Actor to belittle him.
Now, the same remark has turned against Jagan. His sister, Sharmila, has labelled him Narendra Modi’s Dattaputhrudu for supporting the NDA’s candidate in the Vice-President election.
Sharmila criticised, “TDP and Jana Sena are an open alliance. YCP is secretly aligned with BJP. Their politics involve fighting opposition in Andhra Pradesh while maintaining friendship with BJP in Delhi.”
Janasena supporters say, “After calling Pawan Kalyan Dattaputhrudu, Jagan is now being called the same by his sister. If this is not political karma, what is?”
Analysts say Jagan cannot risk offending BJP. With CBI and ED cases pending against him and the sensitive Avinash Reddy case, Jagan has no choice but to maintain ties with BJP leaders.
Justice Sudershan Reddy, a respected jurist from Madgul in Telangana’s Ranga Reddy district, is contesting as the INDIA Bloc’s Vice-President candidate. Despite being a Telugu leader, all Telugu parties except Congress are set to support the NDA nominee.
BRS has not yet announced its stand, but the party holds four crucial votes in this election.
