YSR Congress is harboring all hopes on BC voters to win another term in 2024. BC voters have been traditionally the backbone of TDP, Jagan managed to impress them in 2019 and wants to retain them in 2024 as well.
The Chief Minister attended the Jayaho BC Public meeting at Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium in Vijayawada and tried to woo them with a numbers gimmick.
In the name of BCs, the Chief Minister makes tall claims about giving them a major chunk of nominated posts and allocations in the budget.
Coming to the nominated posts, most of the allocations to BCs are insignificant ones. For an instance, in the all-important TTD board, there are only two BC members.
In the previous government, a BC leader was made the TTD Chairman. But only Reddys got it in Jagan Government.
The amount of money given to the BCs is a big gimmick. Usually, the amount given to BC-specific schemes should only be considered in this. But all such schemes of the previous government are made dummies and the amount given to the BC beneficiaries in general schemes are being shown in the BC quota.
We may even see the salaries paid to BC employees added to this list in days to come. Every caste in the BCs got a corporation in the Jagan government but they are totally jobless with no allocations. The corporation chairmen were present only for the namesake.
After all these gimmicks, “This is what is called making BCs as backbone communities,” Jagan proudly announces while the real needy BCs are left high and dry.
