OTT Exposes the Reality Behind Godari Gattupaina’s BO?

Godari Gattupaina streaming on OTT

Several new films arrived on OTT platforms this week, including Dhanush’s Kara, Saravanan’s Leader, Satya’s Jet Lee, and the Hollywood horror film The Mummy. Alongside them, a recently released Telugu film has quietly made its streaming debut without much publicity.

The film is Godari Gattupaina, starring Sumanth Prabhas and Nidhi Pradeep. After Mem Famous, Sumanth took a considerable gap before returning with this rural romantic comedy. Directed by Subhash Chandra, who previously helmed over 100 short films, the movie also features Jagapathi Babu and Laila in important roles. Produced by Abhinav Rao, it was released in theatres on May 8, 2026.

Despite decent intentions, Godari Gattupaina flopped badly at the box office and has now started streaming on Amazon Prime Video. While its theatrical run is over, the reactions emerging after its OTT release have become a talking point on social media.

Many viewers who watched the film on Prime Video have been sharing largely negative opinions. A common complaint is that the film feels too generic and predictable, with some even arguing that many YouTube short films offer more engaging storytelling.

The reactions have also reignited discussions about exaggerated box-office claims. During its theatrical run, the makers released posters claiming the film had collected Rs. 9 crore. However, several social media users are now questioning those numbers and wondering whether they reflected the movie’s actual performance in theatres.

Inflated collection posters have long been associated mainly with big-hero films, but that trend seems to be spreading rapidly to small and medium-budget projects as well. Many believe some filmmakers are more interested in creating a perception of success than openly acknowledging a film’s commercial performance.

At the same time, many have appreciated producer Abhinav Rao’s passion and commitment to the project. However, passion alone does not guarantee box-office success.

With reports suggesting that Godari Gattupaina was made on a budget of around Rs. 14 crore, industry observers are asking a simple question: did the film recover even a reasonable portion of that investment? If not, then why create such a false perception to fool audiences during its theatrical run by claiming fake collections? OTT viewers have now exposed the fake collections.
