Drishyam 3 Telugu Movie ReviewWhat Is the Film About?

The story of Drishyam 3 revolves around how Georgekutty’s family once again comes under threat because of the same case, and how Georgekutty, the strong pillar of the family, steps in once again to protect his daughters and hold the family together.

Performances

Mohanlal, as Georgekutty, once again slips effortlessly into the character and delivers the same composed and controlled performance we associate with him. The major problem here is not the performance, but the writing itself.

Meena and the two daughters do what is required of them, but there is hardly any standout emotional moment or particularly impressive performance from them.

Jeethu JosephAnalysis

Drishyam 3 begins with a recap of the murder and the traumatic incidents Georgekutty’s family had to go through. However, once the recap ends, what follows until the interval is a not-so-engaging drama that is hard to stay invested in.

The first half mainly revolves around Georgekutty’s film production journey after Drishyam becomes a hit, along with a few issues surrounding the production deal, including the film getting leaked on YouTube. Unfortunately, neither this thread nor the conflicts around it generate much interest or depth.

In between, the director touches upon the emotional side involving Georgekutty’s daughters and the father’s constant fear about their future. But these moments feel intermittent and are mostly driven by Georgekutty’s assumptions rather than any solid threat or tension unfolding in the narrative.

Overall, the first half is driven by Georgekutty’s film production troubles, his fears regarding his daughters, and the issues surrounding one daughter’s marriage. The drama remains barely passable for the most part.

There is a twist at the interval, but it does not land strongly because the preceding drama itself lacks enough grip and momentum to make the twist impactful.

Overall, the first half is barely passable.

The early portions of the second half continue the boredom set up in the first half. However, from the midpoint until the climax, the film becomes relatively more engaging, even without any major shocking twists or turns.

Surprisingly, the director who once built such a compelling family drama in the first part struggles badly here. The emotional core of Georgekutty’s family is almost completely missing, and when it comes to twists and suspense, there is hardly anything memorable to talk about.

There is one idea the director experiments with in the climax, and if that has to be treated as the film’s major twist, then that is the only notable twist in the entire film. Even that lands in a merely okay manner.

Overall, Drishyam 3 feels like a completely unnecessary and forced franchise sequel that nowhere comes close to the standards and expectations set by the original film. More than anything, this third part reminds us that every story has a limit. Hopefully, both the director and Mohanlal realize the same.

Performances by Other Actors

Drishyam 3 brings back most of the supporting cast from the earlier parts, and almost all of them perform their roles well once again. However, the main problem lies in the writing and the lack of strong character development given to these characters.

Most of the supporting roles feel dull and underwritten, with none of them leaving any particular impact. They simply do what is required in the narrative, but there is hardly any standout character or performance worth highlighting.

Anil JohnsonMusic and Other Departments?

Music by Anil Johnson is mostly effective in terms of the background score. While there is nothing particularly impactful or memorable, the score does suit the narrative and supports the mood of the film well.

Satheesh Kurup’s cinematography is decent and maintains the same visual tone established in the earlier parts of the franchise.

Editing by Vinayak could have been much sharper, as the film suffers from noticeable repetitiveness, especially in the first half.

The production values by Aashirvad Cinemas are adequate and serve the purpose well for a simple, family-oriented film like Drishyam 3.

Highlights?

Mohanlal’s composed screen presence

A couple of brief emotional moments in the second half

Drawbacks?

Boring and stretched first half

Forced sequel vibes throughout

Did I Enjoy It?

Not really, except for a few stretches in the second half.

Will You Recommend It?

Not for a theatrical watch. Maybe okay for a casual home watch.

#Drishyam3 Review: Franchise Dragged Too Far

M9 aRating: 2.25/5

Biggest issue with Part 3 is that the legal threat faced by Georgekutty’s family never makes us share their panic or tension.

First half feels largely empty and stretched, second half turns engaging from the midpoint and manages an okay closure.

But with no major twists, shocking turns, or emotionally gripping drama, part-3 leaves you with one feeling: Every Story Has a Limit.

Overall, watchable for franchise fans.
