The Jubilee Hills by-election has turned into a high-stakes contest for all major parties. Alongside them, several independents and small party candidates have also filed nominations, adding to the buzz.
Congress candidate Naveen Yadav filed two sets of nominations. BJP’s Lankala Deepak Reddy also filed two sets, while BRS candidate Maganti Sunitha submitted four sets.
In total, a record number of over 150 nominations have been filed for the by-election. Apart from the main parties, independents, regional ring road farmers, Osmania University representatives, and unemployment groups have also joined the race.
The nomination process closed at 3 PM, with only those inside the gates allowed to file. The Returning Officer will review all nominations on Wednesday. The last date to withdraw nominations is October 24, and polling will be held on November 11.
AIMIM has decided not to field a candidate and is supporting the Congress. The by-election was necessitated by the death of BRS leader Maganti Gopinath.
