Nominations for the Jubilee Hills by-election are underway, and an unexpected twist has emerged. A case has been filed against Maganti Sunitha for violating the election code of conduct.
The case also names her daughter, Maganti Akshara. Congress leaders complained to the returning officer, alleging that the Maganti family tried to influence people heading for namaz on Friday in Yousufguda’s Venkatagiri area.
Police at Jubilee Hills station registered a case under the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) against Sunitha as A1, Akshara as A2, Yousufguda corporator Rajkumar Patel, and four others.
After the death of BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath, his family joined the race for the Jubilee Hills by-election. The BRS fielded his widow, Sunitha, hoping for sympathy votes. Meanwhile, the ruling Congress is pushing hard to win the seat at any cost, viewing it as proof of public trust.
With local body elections approaching, Congress aims to show its growing strength through this contest.
