With the Telangana election notification now announced, we have a list of Kamma community settlers in Telangana. According to the 2018 survey, there were 1,367,000 Kamma-settler votes. It’s reasonable to assume that at least 2 percent should have been included in the latest voter list. Consequently, it’s evident that the number of Kamma settlers in these 35 constituencies exceeds 1.5 million.
This is particularly significant considering the transfer of lakhs of ration cards to Hyderabad after Jagan became the Chief Minister in Andhra Pradesh. Over the past four and a half years, it’s clear that a substantial number of people have migrated from AP to Hyderabad.
In 2018, 60% of these voters shifted their support towards the TRS, which contributed to the party winning the majority of segments in the GHMC area. Now, based on the latest political developments in AP, they may not prefer to vote for BRS again. Their voting decisions will undoubtedly have a significant impact on the fate of winning candidates.
