BRS Party leaders and supporters were initially relieved that they put up a strong fight in the Assembly when the Revanth Reddy Government presented the Kaleshwaram Report.
However, the relief did not last long. Revanth Reddy’s announcement of a CBI inquiry shocked the BRS leadership. The party now fears that the BJP could use this case to weaken them and capture political ground in Telangana.
MLC Kavitha’s press meet created a storm. She admitted to corruption in the Kaleshwaram Project and blamed Harish Rao and Santosh Rao while giving a clean chit to her father. Her statement handed a powerful weapon to the government. Kavitha said, “That is the reason why KCR removed Harish as the Irrigation Minister in the Second Term.” But if Harish Rao and Santosh Rao were involved in corruption, critics argue they could not have done it without KCR’s support as the head of the government.
This statement may have cornered KCR, knowingly or unknowingly. In the coming days, the CBI may even summon Kavitha as a witness in the case. Since the press meet, KTR has remained at Erravelli Farmhouse, reportedly discussing the future course of action with his father.
Rumours suggest that the party may soon suspend Kavitha. Some reports claim that she has already prepared for all scenarios and might even float a new party. Sources say registration formalities have been completed. KTR is said to have been pushing for Kavitha’s suspension for a long time, but KCR resisted. He wanted to avoid family disputes while managing opposition politics.
Now, that decision may turn into a mistake. If Kavitha had been suspended earlier, her press meet would not have carried the same weight as it does now.
