The persistent challenge of narcotics in Telangana, notably in Hyderabad, has raised concerns about the region evolving into a transit hub for various illicit substances.

Criticism has been directed at the previous government led by KCR for not addressing the issue robustly and failing to implement strong measures to combat the drug menace in the state.

With a change in leadership, Telangana’s new Chief Minister, Revanth Reddy, has issued stringent directives to officials at the Telangana State Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TSNAB) to confront the distribution and misuse of narcotics.

During a thorough review meeting at the Dr. BR Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat, CM Revanth confirmed the appointment of a new director for TSNAB, emphasizing the provision of sufficient funds, resources, and logistical support to enhance the bureau’s effectiveness.

Demonstrating a resolute commitment to a drug-free Telangana, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy urged officials to fortify TSNAB, drawing inspiration from specialized agencies like Greyhounds and Octopus, renowned for their expertise in anti-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations.

As Telangana grapples with the urgent issue of drug menace, especially in Hyderabad, all eyes are on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to observe how he addresses and effectively tackles this pervasive challenge in the state.
