Police department had put an iron fist on Telangana Congress’ Padayatra on Secretariat shifting issue and even made lathi charge. In the attack, PCC Chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah was injured and had to be rushed to a hospital.
Although the injuries are not serious, suddenly Congress was able to attract media space and public attention due to this very simple incident. While the ruling party totally rubbished the Congress’ agitation, the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was upset with the over action of the Police. He felt that they have created a scene out of nothing and ordered Police bosses to not to repeat such things in future.
On the other side, Telangana Congress is happy that they are able to make a mark on people as the main opposition party in the state. There are allegations over Ponnala’s leadership even from the own party leaders. So Ponnala is buoyed by this success and is encouraged to take more such agitations in near future.
