Telangana Rashtra Samiti has no numbers to get a seat in upcoming Rajya Sabha elections but the party is eyeing a seat which Congress and TDP find it difficult to bag it on their own strength. KCR had decided to field K.Kesava Rao in the fray. Kesava Rao is a former Congress man who recently shifted loyalties to TRS. KCR hopes that being a long time member of Congress, Kesava Rao may facilitate cross voting and get the seat.
KCR also hopes that in the wake of Congress expecting a merger or alliance with TRS in upcoming elections, they will not be going against TRS. Kesava Rao’s nomination will also stir Telangana sentiment and may also draw votes of Telangana region MLAs across all the parties. The election for 6 Rajya Sabha seats in Andhra Pradesh will take place on February 7th.
