Kia Engines Case: Key Arrests

The police have seized four trucks believed to have been used to transport 900 stolen car engines from Kia India’s facility at Penukonda in Sri SatyaSai district.

The theft of Rs 20 crore was found during recent audit, though the theft started in 2020 and continued for a few years. Kia representatives filed a case on March 20, 2025. A special police team was formed to investigate the matter, though the details were closely guarded.

On April 16, 8 ex employees of Kia were arrested in the case. They were presented before Penukonda magistrate and taken into remand. The arrests were made after the detention of a local suspect and the others were arrested from Tamil Nadu.

The engines were transferred in the seized trucks which are now in Penukonda for further investigation. The arrest of ex employees has raised doubts about security in the plant.

The investigation is going on and the police are trying to find the buyers and other accomplices, if any. However, all details are being closely guarded.
