In a major development following the Kurnool bus accident, Vemuri Kaveri Travels owner Vemuri Vinod has been arrested by Kurnool police. He was produced before the court and later taken into judicial remand.
The tragic incident occurred when a Vemuri Travels bus caught fire after colliding with a bike, leading to the death of 20 passengers, all of whom were burnt alive. The horrifying visuals and reports have left the entire state in deep shock.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the bus had been illegally converted from a seater to a sleeper vehicle, and there were also irregularities in its registration.
Following the incident, police arrested both the driver Lakshmaiah, who has been named A1 in the case, and the bus owner Vemuri Vinod. Authorities stated that negligence and non-compliance with safety regulations contributed to the tragedy.
Eyewitnesses claimed that more passengers could have been saved if the driver had immediately alerted them after the collision.
The arrest of the owner has received a positive response online, with many netizens demanding accountability from all responsible parties. They believe the owner should face equal responsibility for operating unsafe vehicles.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences and shock over the accident, while Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu ordered an inquiry into the incident and directed officials to ensure strict preventive measures are implemented to avoid such tragedies in the future.
