BJP led Central government has confirmed that the Special Status is not going to happen and announced a Special Package in its place. TDP government has adjusted itself to the Package so as not to waste time on the Special Status which is impossible to come. The elections will showcase if people approves the Package. If not, if they will also make TDP responsible for what BJP did.

YSR Congress and Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena is taking up the issue further hoping that it would remain an election issue till 2019. These elections results will give an answer to them if people are really bothered or if they are beating a dead horse. Both the parties will shift to some other issue if the results are in favour of TDP-BJP combine.

If the results are against the ruling party, then Special Status issue will be raked further. Congress and Communists will look at these elections to corner the state government but otherwise have no stake in this elections or the 2019 elections. It may be not be an exaggeration to say these elections will set the stage for the 2019 elections.
