L&T not ready to take blame for Traffic Congestion!

Larsen and Toubro companyLarsen and Toubro, the concessionaire of Hyderabad Metro Rail Project refuted the blame of being the reason for the traffic congestion in the city with their ongoing works. The company alleged that the failure of Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) to implement the agreed up on Road Development Plan (RDP) intended to reduce traffic congestion, simultaneously along the alignment of the project as the main reason.

As per the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed before the beginning of the project, the HMRL had signed with the Union ministry of road transport and highways (MoRTH) to construct grade separators and flyovers simultaneously along with the construction of the Metro viaduct which may bring down the congestion to a great extent but HMRL ignored it totally.

When quizzed about L&T’s allegation, an official at HMRL simply shifted the blame on to the state roads and buildings (R&B) department. They say the R&B department was yet to frame the guidelines to call the tenders to construct the grade separators and flyovers despite several reminders from HMRL.
