Maharashtra Elections 2024: BJP Crushes Congress’s Hopes

The counting of the Maharashtra Assembly Elections is currently underway and we get a picture of the final results. It is the Mahayuti alliance (BJP-Shinde’s Shiv Sena-Ajit Pawar’s NCP) which crossed the magic mark and is heading towards massive victory over Maha Vikas Aghadi (Congress- Uddhav Thackaray’s Shiv Sena-Sharad Pawar’s NCP).

As of now, Mahayuti is leading in 216 of the 288 constituencies while MVS is leading in only 58. The rest of the 16 seats witnessed the lead from other party and independent candidates.

The magic figure in Maharashtra is 144 and Mahayuti crossed it comfortably and is heading towards a big win. Going by the verdict, it looks like there was no anti-incumbency factor against the BJP-Shinde SS-Ajit Pawar’s NCP among the people. Thus, they handed the alliance a dominating victory.

Congress hoped to secure Maharashtra and become a dominating force in the state politics. However, the BJP crushed its hopes and continued its supremacy in the state.

On the other side, the JMM alliance is leading against the BJP alliance in the Jharkhand Assembly Elections. While JMM is leading in 49 seats, BJP is leading in 30 seats. The JMM alliance will have a good-margin victory over the BJP.

While Hemant Soren is set to become the Chief Minister of Jharkhand once again, we hear that not Eknath Shinde but Devendra Fadnavis will become the Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
