The BJP has come as a speedbreaker for the TDP and Janasena. Cashing on the desperation of the parties to have a level playing field in the elections, the BJP is trying to arm-twist them into giving more seats.
The party which has less than one percent vote share in Andhra Pradesh already got more than its worth here (10 MLA seats and 6 MPs).
It has grabbed seats from Janasena (1 MP and three MLA seats) and TDP (one MLA seat).
The Saffron Party also deceived TDP by denying Narasapuram ticket to Raghu Rama Krishna Raju after initially agreeing to give.
Already the supporters of TDP and Janasena are fuming at the BJP for this unruly attitude.
Now, the party is trying to grab the eleventh MLA seat.
In a BJP meeting, BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh announced that the party will contest eleven seats in total.
The buzz is that the BJP is asking for Rajampeta or Thambalapalle. TDP says it is impossible to leave three seats in Kadapa district to the BJP.
Also, it is asking to exchange Anaparthi seat with Rajamahendravaram Rural or Rajamahendravam City. TDP is refusing both since they are sitting seats of the party.
If TDP relents to these demands, it will be sending a very wrong signal to its cadre and will make vote transfer very messy.
BJP is already struggling to find candidates in the seats it has got. It is filling the candidates lists with turncoats and the rich. The party seems to be thinking it can piggyback on the strength of TDP and Janasena and win just by getting seats.
But in the process, they are complicating the vote transfer which will defeat the actual purpose of the alliance.
