The Director of the Forensic Science Laboratory Shikha Goyal has denied rumours surrounding the fire accident at the FSL in Nampally. Speaking to the media in Hyderabad, she said false information is being spread about the incident.
Shikha Goyal said the fire broke out on Saturday morning at 10:08 am. Fire services brought the blaze under control by 1:30 pm. She confirmed that the fire affected parts of the FSL laboratory, training hall, library, and HRD room.
She said a police complaint has been filed and an investigation is underway to find the exact cause of the fire. Officials are also assessing the damage caused by the incident. Detailed information will be shared once the assessment is completed.
Addressing rumours, Shikha Goyal clarified that claims about evidence from two important cases being destroyed are completely false. She said materials related to those cases were already submitted to the courts earlier.
She also dismissed misinformation about a 2015 ACB case, stating that all related evidence was handed over to the court long ago. Similarly, in a case registered at Panjagutta Police Station, the evidence had already been submitted.
The FSL Director explained that out of 136 pieces of evidence collected till 2024, all except seven were already sent to the courts. She assured that FSL securely stores all evidence and equipment, and any lost data can be restored by the technical team if needed.
