Has Chandrababu taken a decision regarding Telangana TDP chief? Is the party going to get a new chief? Will the chief work to revive the past glory of the party? The answer to all these questions is a big yes.
As the alliance government has completed 9 months in power, Chandrababu is said to be focusing on reviving the party in Telangana. But the tussle is between NTR’s family member and a BC candidate.
If Babu decides to give the post to NTR family member, then it is likely that Nandamuri Suhasini will get the post. If the party decides to give the post as per social equations, then, another key leader Aravind Kumar Goud is likely to be picked for the post.
The big news is that once the chief is chosen, TDP will contest in all polls in Telangana.
However, as per party sources, Chandrababu is keen on Nandamuri Suhasini as she is the daughter of Harikrishna and sister of Jr NTR. That would mean maintaining family legacy and would mean having a woman candidate. Also, Suhasini would mean getting Seemandhra votes in Telangana. It is known that Suhasini contested as a MLA in 2018.
But there is another group which says that Suhasini would project the party as a Andhra party. If that argument holds base, then the post could go to Arvind Kumar Goud.
Right now, Arvind Kumar Goud is the TDP politburo member. He contested from Asif Nagar constituency and lost. But he is the nephew of ex home minister Devender Goud and has been with the party through thick and thin. He is supposed to have a strong voice in the party.
Arvind Kumar Goud was quite active on TDP formation day. He said that BRS was no longer a viable party in Telangana. During his speech, he spoke of the day being a historic day and lauded NTR for abolishing the Patel, Patwari system.
He said though the party was not in power for 20 years in Telangana, the cadre was dedicated. He further said NTR and Chandrababu Naidu’s impact gave inspiration to cadre.
Though TDP stayed away from 2023 elections, it will be contesting in upcoming municipal elections. Pawan Kalyan has already said that the alliance would continue in Telangana too, meaning TDP, Jana Sena and BJP will be contesting together. Given this backdrop, the Telangana TDP chief post acquires significance.
