In the initial days of Chandrababu Naidu’s rule, the Telugu Desam Party tried to be in the good books of Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. It is then the Central Government brought the idea of Special Package instead of Special Status.
Chandrababu at the behest of BJP initially talked in support of the Special Package. Later due to the pressure of the Opposition and people influenced by the Opposition, he had to change the stance to Special Status and severed ties with BJP. What happened next is history.
It looks like Modi and Shah are laying the same trap for Jagan. But this time, it is the Polavaram Project instead of Special Status. CM Jagan is maintaining stoic silence about Center distancing from its responsibility of funding the project, probably not to hurt the Delhi fearing his cases or some other reason.
This silence is like support to the Center’s atrocious act of betrayal. If the Opposition makes the right moves, YSR Congress will be at the receiving end. No one other than Jagan knows better what will happen next. He grabbed the opportunity back then with both hands and it has to be seen if he will play into the hands of Chandrababu Naidu now.
