YSR Congress with the help of I-PAC launched a massive campaign on WhatsApp and Social Media calling Lokesh as Pappu.
Back then, TDP was so complacent about the campaign and could not counter it.
Lokesh’s weight and poor Telugu speaking skills also helped their propaganda.
Despite being one of the best-performing Ministers in the country, Lokesh was subjected to many trolls which led to his first electoral defeat as well.
After the elections, Lokesh molded himself and made insults the stepping stones to his success. He reduced weight and also improved his oratory skills. He is today one of the best speakers in Andhra Politics.
He also did a Padayatra for more than 3,000 Kilometers. If not for Chandrababu’s arrest, he would have walked for the highest length than any other Telugu politician.
Meanwhile, the biggest validation for Lokesh came from the BJP.
BJP asked Lokesh to campaign in Coimbatore from where Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai is contesting. Coimbatore has good presence of Telugu people.
In 2019 after the divorce between TDP and BJP, Prime Minister Narendra Modi alleged that Chandrababu’s Government was only working for his son.
Annamalai is one of the best orators in the country today. The BJP and Annamalai needed a Nara Lokesh for him.
Tamil Nadu BJP had tweeted a poster welcoming Lokesh to Coimbatore.
Lokesh who lost the first election of his life is helping the BJP which emerged as a win machine to win a seat.
This is an indication of what Lokesh achieved in the last five years.
