Rahul-Gandhi Telangana

Telangana Congress is leaving no stone unturned to build a strong cadre in the whole state. After emerging victorious in the Assembly elections, Congress is now aiming to show the same strength in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls too. As a part of it, TPCC is planning to make Rahul Gandhi contest in Telangana this time.

Earlier, TPCC leaders tried to make Sonia Gandhi contest from Telangana. They also requested her in public. However, Sonia decided not to contest in the Lok Sabha polls this time and opted for Rajya Sabha contention. Thus, the focus has now shifted to Rahul Gandhi.

According to the sources, Rahul Gandhi may not contest from his constituency Wayanad this time. LDF, which is a part of the Congress-led INDIA alliance, already announced its MP candidate from Wayanad. This move is now raising questions about whether Rahul Gandhi decided not to contest from Wayanad.

Sources say that he may contest either in Telangana or in Uttar Pradesh. It is heard that he may contest either from Khammam, Bhongir or Nalgonda constituencies, where Congress has a stronghold.

In Uttar Pradesh, he might not run against Smriti Irani in Amethi. Following Sonia’s departure, the seat in Raebareli remains unfilled, with uncertainty surrounding whether Rahul or Priyanka will vie for it.

Compared to UP, Telangana would be a better choice for Rahul as his party is in the government here and there are higher chances of him winning here than in North India in the current political scenario.

As of now, Telangana Congress leaders are trying hard to convince Rahul to contest from the state and he may take a call very soon.
