Life can be harsh even for the most humble souls. Those once celebrated may find themselves in the most devastating circumstances.

In a similar tragic instance, Darshanam Mogulaiah, a Telugana recipient of the Padma Shri award and esteemed folk artist, now works as a daily wage labourer to make ends meet.

Komuraiah was awarded with the Padma Shri in 2022 for playing music with the rare “Kinnera” instrument. He also sang the title song in Pawan Kalyan’s Bheemla Nayak.

After he won the Padma Shri Award, the former BRS government under the leadership KCR, presented a grant of Rs. 1 crore and sanctioned a monthly honorarium of Rs. 10000.

Reportedly, Komuraiah used the one crore cash for his sons’ weddings and also bought a piece of land in Turkayamjal near Hyderabad. He cleared his debts and started building a house. However, he had to stop it midway as he ran out of funds.

Komuraiah said that one of his sons suffers from seizures. He has to spend Rs. 7000 for his and his sons’ medicines every month. On top of it, they have to undergo mandatory regular health checkups.

Komuraiah stated that his monthly honorarium was discontinued for the last few months, making his life difficult. Stuck in a deep financial crisis, he had no option but to work as a daily wage worker at a construction site in Turkayamanjal.

The videos of him working at the construction site went viral on social media and reached former minister KT Rama Rao. After witnessing Komuraiah’s situation, KTR promised to take care of Mogulaiah and his family.

“I will personally take care of Sri Moguliah’s family. My team @KTRoffice will reach out to him immediately,” tweeted KTR.
