YCP tried to make people believe that the sand was stored for canal works.

Back in 2022, when Peddireddy was the cabinet minister, his family’s PLR Company vehicles transported the sand and stored it here. According to the reports, sand was illegally transported by around 100 tippers regularly at that time.

During YCP’s rule, work started to send water from the Gandikota reservoir to the Punganur branch canal. To connect Galeri-Nagari canal to Handri-Neeva canal through Pedamandyam, Thamabalapalle and Mulakalacheruvu, this sand was heavily accumulated near Reddyvaripalli.

However, the work has come to a halt over the last few months. When the issue went to the collector’s notice, he ordered to seize the sand dumps. As per reports, around 27,472 cubic meters of sand were seized by the officials.
