Punganuru constituency came into existence in 2009 after the delimitation, Peddireddy won all four elections that happened after that. Before that, he won three times from the Pileru constituency.

Despite having no strength to win as a PAC Member, Jagan made Peddireddy file a nomination.
Each Member should get 19.44 votes to win, which means 20 MLAs support to win.

YSR Congress has only eleven MLAs and so, Peddireddy will naturally lose.
Even then, Jagan made him file a nomination. What happened after that is even more bizarre!
On the day of voting today, Jagan silently flew to Bengaluru and the remaining YSR Congress MLAs waited till the last minute for instructions from Jagan.
When there were no instructions, Peddireddy had to announce that they were boycotting the election.
When you are boycotting an election, what is the idea behind filing a nomination?
The entire episode ended up being an embarrassment for Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy.
