Peddireddy Rama Chandra Reddy unleashed a tyrannical rule in Punganur between 2019 and 2024.
He was a Big Power Center in Jagan Mohan Reddy. He was the only minister to retain his Ministry throughout the five years.
Every now and then, he used to make big challenges to defeat Chandrababu Naidu in Kuppam. In fact, he wrested Kuppam Municipality using brute force and money power.
He ruled the Chittoor district like a Sultan but all those are things of the past.
Ever since the change of Government, Peddireddy is unable to set foot in Punganur. Today his son, MP Midhun Reddy entered the constituency silently without informing the Police. TDP and Janasena cadres are protesting against him demanding that he go back from Punganur.
The local police have house-arrested Mithun Reddy and are trying to bring the situation under control.
Before people sympathized with Peddireddy or Mithun Reddy, they unleashed similar terror on the Opposition between 2019 and 2024.
TDP’s Challa Rama Chandra Reddy faced numerous such problems from Peddireddy. In fact, the media was not even allowed to report their atrocities in the last five years.
What is happening today is Peddireddy and his son facing the taste of their own medicine, the people of the constituency say.
Peddireddy in fact should thank his stars in this election.
He contested from Punganur and his son, Mithun Reddy from Rajampet Parliament won by a narrow margin.
TDP’s Challa Ramachandra Reddy put up a very strong fight and Peddireddy had a narrow escape with just 6095 votes majority.
His son, Mithun Reddy also had a lucky escape. He won with a 76071 votes majority. Mithun Reddy would have lost if TDP contested from here. The ticket was given for the BJP and former CM Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy was the candidate.
There was a massive cross-voting. People have voted for TDP candidates in the Assembly constituencies under Rajampet Parliament but voted for Mithun Reddy in Lok Sabha.
If the same situation persists next five years, Peddireddy will be the first candidate to lose from the YSR Congress.
Meanwhile, Peddireddy’s land-grabbing and mining mafia incidents in Punganur are being unearthed one after the other. Coming days will get even tougher for him.
