Former Macharla MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy was taken to the Nellore Central Jail by the police. The police produced Pinnelli before the Macharla Junior Civil Judge. An investigation is ongoing in four cases related to the destruction of EVMs and the intimidation of voters.
Bail was granted in two of the cases, while he was remanded for 14 days in connection with two other cases. Former YSRCP legislator Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy has become a symbol of political anarchy in Macharla.
His reign appears to be over as he was arrested by the police in Narasaraopet on Wednesday in connection with the EVM destruction, an attack on CI, and malice against TDP agents. Pinnelli’s pleas in the High Court for anticipatory bail in these cases were rejected on Wednesday.
Immediately after that, the police rushed to the scene. At 3:47 pm, Pinnelli was taken into custody and brought to the SP office. The news of the arrest was confirmed by SP Mallikagarg around 7 pm.
Following this, Pinnelli was taken from the SP’s office to the government hospital in Narasaraopet at 8 pm for a medical examination.
Later, at 9:13 pm, he was brought back from the hospital to the SP’s office. Since the cases were registered in the Macharla constituency, the police decided to produce him in the Macharla court. A total of 14 cases were registered against Pinnelli on and after polling day, including three cases of attempted murder.
