The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance is set to form the government for the third consecutive time in India. The NDA secured 293 seats in the recently held Lok Sabha elections and crossed the majority mark of 272.

Today, all NDA leaders and newly-elected MPs met at the Parliament complex to elect Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister of India. This will be Modi’s third term as the PM and he will take oath mostly on June 9th in New Delhi.

Speaking at the event, Modi lauded all alliance parties which did well in the Lok Sabha elections. He also appreciated BJP’s AP alliance partners Telugu Desam Party and Jana Sena.

TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu and JSP president Pawan Kalyan were present at the event and shared the stage with Modi. Both TDP and JSP contributed 18 Lok Sabha seats to NDA. On the other side, the BJP won three seats in the state.

Modi stated that the people of Andhra Pradesh extended their huge support to the NDA alliance in these elections. He said that BJP achieved this historic victory in AP with the help of Chandrababu Naidu.

Modi especially appreciated Pawan Kalyan saying that he is a storm. “His name is Pawan (wind in Hindi). But he is an Aandhi (storm in Hindi),” stated Modi.
