Work on Polavaram left canal was reviewed by Minister of Water Resources Nimmala Ramanaidu on Wednesday. He held a video conference with related officials to check the progress.
The officials told the Minister that 25,238 Mt was completed so far, which means 40% of the wall is now complete.
Of the 373 panels required for the diaphragm wall, 130 critical panels were completed, they shared with the Minister. They said that the construction will go on even during flooding using dewatering process.
They assured the Minister that the wall will be completed by December 2025. Gap 1 earth cum rock feel dam works will be completed by March, 2026, they said.
Gap 2 ECRF designs need to be okayed by CWC, PPA. Once that happens, the works will begin in November, 2025, they said. Minister Nimmala gave directions that they must complete Polavaram left canal and provide Godavari waters to Uttarandhra according to the wish of CM Chandrababu.
