Pulivendula has been a stronghold for the Congress and YSRCP. YSR himself, his wife Vijayamma and his son Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy have won elections from Pulivendula with significant majorities in the past. As for future elections, will son and daughter from YSR family contest the election as rivalries this time from Pulivendula?
Pulivendula The Congress party is said to be focusing on southern states and is making plans to revive its former glory in Andhra Pradesh (AP). It is reported that the party has approached Sharmila, who has been seeking a political future in Telangana following her separation from her brother.
The Congress has proposed merging Sharmila’s YSRTP with the Congress. While Sharmila initially denied these rumors, Congress leaders are claiming that plans are being prepared for the merger.
KVP Ramachandrarao, a prominent leader associated with the late YSR, has made significant comments regarding Sharmila’s potential merger with Congress. He has indicated that they have information suggesting Sharmila’s imminent entry into the Congress.
KVP Ramachandrarao has expressed the party’s invitation to Sharmila, referring to her as the child of YSR, to join the Congress as a leader. Although Sharmila had previously stated that she would leave AP and pursue politics in Telangana due to her differences with Chief Minister Jagan, she now seems uncertain about her decision.
Discussions are reportedly underway with Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, and if everything goes well, it would not be surprising if Sharmila contests from Pulivendula, following in the footsteps of her father YSR.
Should Sharmila’s talks with the Congress prove successful, there is a possibility that the party merger could take place on July 8, which is YSR Jayanti (YSR’s birth anniversary).
While Sharmila has expressed her intention to continue in Telangana politics even after merging with Congress, the Congress leadership has made it clear that they want her to focus on AP.
The Congress High Command suggests that if Sharmila believes she can merge with Congress and take on leadership responsibilities, she should consider shifting her focus to AP. The party hopes to hand over the reins to Sharmila in AP.
