Senior IPS officer PV Sunil Kumar appeared before the Guntur CCS PS in connection with the custodial torture case of Deputy Speaker Raghurama Raju. He is the prime accused in the alleged torture of the former Narsapuram MP. The inquiry is being conducted by Vizianagaram SP Damodar.
Sunil Kumar was initially issued a notice on November 26, asking him to appear for inquiry on December 4. He sought time citing the delicate health of his family members. Later, a second notice dated December 6 directed him to attend the inquiry on December 15.
This time, Sunil Kumar complied and appeared before the officials. The questioning focused on allegations related to the custodial torture case. The inquiry remains a key development in the ongoing investigation.
A few days earlier, Raghurama Raju wrote to the Central government seeking the removal of PV Sunil Kumar from service. He alleged that the officer made caste-related remarks and criticised political leaders during a public speech.
Raghurama also demanded action in connection with his custodial torture. He stated that if Sunil Kumar intends to enter politics, he should resign from his IPS post before doing so.
